  I know an elder that sprinkles this one into a lot of his talks and comments:

  “If’n the society tells us to plant turnips upside down then we should

  plant turnips upside down!”

  I almost posted this to the humor topic because it was so funny, but he really said that one over and over. Most people in the kh ate his stuff up, I think the rest of us just tried to laugh it off. I wish I had seen outlaws post along time ago so I could have run it by him, maybe he would have used it in his talks.

  The basic message is that you should suspend your own common sense. This is Kool Aid thinking.

  I once gave an hour Sunday talk (to several congregations) that had the theme "Strict Obedience". It involved some of the same concepts as the turnip analogy.

  Listening to Botchtower's advice on how to plant turnips means you'll never get any turnips out of your garden. Seems fitting.
